French first lady shoves Macron’s face: Macron claims, “We were just joking,” following a contentious video featuring French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron.

On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron denied rumors that French First Lady Brigitte Macron had shoved his face on their plane after landing in Vietnam, as shown in a widely shared video.

We were simply joking, and that is all there is to it. “And this has become a geopolitical disaster,” Macron stated, refuting reports of a domestic conflict.

Recorded by multiple international news outlets, the video shows the first lady’s arm pushing the president’s face as the door of the presidential plane opened on Sunday night.

Macron looked to extend his arm to his wife, who seemed to ignore the gesture as they came downstairs to meet Vietnamese officials who were waiting.

Macron denounced the online hysteria that surrounded the video.

“I see many crazies spending a lot of time interpreting these videos,” he remarked, referring to hyperbolic or misleading social media narratives.

He cited two additional recent incidents where people misinterpreted his videos.

People have been watching recordings for the previous three weeks and believing that I was sharing a bag of cocaine, having a domestic quarrel with my wife, and having a mano a mano with a Turkish president.

Macron asserted that none of that was accurate.

Additionally, he implied that outside parties were spreading the rumors. “The extremes in France are powerful proxies to spread these things, and the Russians are good allies,” he stated.

Macron landed in Hanoi Sunday night to start a weeklong trip to Southeast Asia, which will include stops in Singapore and Indonesia, with the goal of strengthening diplomatic and commercial ties.
