R&B star R. Kelly collapsed in prison and was taken to the hospital after an alleged overdose.
Convicted singer R. Kelly, 58, was urgently taken to the hospital after what is being described as a serious overdose while in solitary confinement. The incident happened at a federal correctional facility in North Carolina, where he is serving his 30-year sentence.
“This Was No Mistake” – Lawyer Alleges
His attorneys believe this was a targeted act. They insist the dosage Kelly received was too high to be a coincidence, especially considering his isolated state at the time.
“We believe this was a calculated act to harm Mr. Kelly while he was vulnerable and alone,” his lawyer declared.
The legal team also disclosed that Kelly hadn’t eaten for several days, fearing he might be poisoned. Medical checks at the hospital confirmed the overdose was life-threatening. More worryingly, doctors discovered blood clots in his legs and lungs, worsening his already fragile health.
The U.S. Bureau of Prisons has not responded publicly to the growing accusations. With Kelly being a high-profile inmate, the silence is only adding fuel to public concern about his safety behind bars.
Kelly was convicted in 2021 for serious crimes, including sexual exploitation, kidnapping, and human trafficking. His lawyers are now pushing for an independent investigation, warning that his life could be in real danger if no action is taken soon.
