Claims He Made Up to a Million Shillings Daily
Controversial preacher Victor Kanyari has finally lifted the lid on his widely criticized ‘Mbegu ya 310’ campaign. During a recent interview, he boldly claimed that the initiative earned him between KSh700,000 and KSh1 million daily, as Kenyans rushed to send their contributions in hopes of receiving blessings.
According to the preacher, thousands of followers would faithfully send their KSh310 offerings, believing in miracles and breakthroughs.
“People used to send around seven hundred thousand to one million per day,” he stated.
Says Other Churches Demand More
Despite the heavy backlash he received years ago, Kanyari has stood his ground and insisted there was nothing wrong with asking for such offerings. He defended the campaign, arguing that many other churches demand much more, including livestock and property.
“I was only asking for 310. Other churches ask for thousands, land, goats, sheep… mine was small,” Kanyari said.
Says God Gave Him the Idea
The Salvation Healing Ministry founder went on to claim that the ‘Seed of 310’ wasn’t a random number — it came directly from God. He insisted that the high response from the public was enough proof that the idea was divine.
“It was God who told me to do it. People wouldn’t have sent money if it wasn’t from God,” he explained.
Rise and Fall After 2014 Exposé
Prophet Kanyari’s fame skyrocketed in 2014, but it didn’t take long before everything came crashing down. A well-known TV exposé exposed his deceptive tactics — revealing how his church allegedly collected money from vulnerable worshippers in exchange for fake miracles. The scandal caused massive uproar across the country and led to the closure of his church.
The fallout was so serious that even his wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo, walked away from the marriage, distancing herself from the drama.
New Name, New Image
After the scandal, Kanyari attempted a full transformation. In 2017, he dropped the name “Pastor Kanyari” and reintroduced himself as “Pastor Mwangi.” He reopened his ministry under a new approach and expanded into the media space by launching multiple TV and radio platforms like SHIFU TV, Prophetic TV, Vicka TV, Dunny TV, and Rockwell FM.
This media shift was seen as a way to maintain influence and reach even after public trust had taken a major hit.
Shifting to TikTok Controversies
While many expected him to maintain a cleaner image post-scandal, Kanyari has recently attracted fresh criticism, this time from his activities on TikTok. The pastor has been hosting controversial live streams, where he reportedly asks fans to send him videos featuring explicit content.
This behavior has once again drawn negative attention, with critics questioning whether he has completely abandoned the role of a spiritual leader.
Victor Kanyari’s story is one of dramatic highs and lows. From receiving millions through a church campaign to facing public disgrace and rebranding himself, he remains one of Kenya’s most controversial religious figures. Despite his insistence that God led his actions, many still doubt his motives — especially now as his online behavior raises new questions about his true calling.
