A late-night social media post by nominated Senator Karen Nyamu declaring “I love Ruto” has ignited widespread reactions online, once again placing the outspoken politician at the centre of public debate.
The post, which featured photos of President William Ruto, was originally shared by Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris before being reshared by Nyamu on her social media platforms.
Accompanying the images was a brief but emotive caption reading, “I love Ruto,” a message that quickly drew attention from supporters, critics, and political commentators alike.

Within hours, the Instagram story had attracted thousands of reactions, with Kenyans sharply divided over Nyamu’s bold expression.
Supporters defended the senator, arguing that there is nothing unusual about a politician openly showing loyalty and admiration for their party leader.
Some praised her for being unapologetic about her political stance, saying her message reflected commitment to President Ruto’s leadership and agenda.

However, critics were less impressed. A section of social media users accused Nyamu of excessive political praise, with some questioning the timing and tone of the message.
Others argued that leaders should focus more on addressing pressing national issues rather than engaging in what they termed as “online theatrics.”
The post also reignited ongoing conversations about Nyamu’s close political alignment with President Ruto.
As a nominated senator under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), she has consistently defended the president and his administration, often using social media as her main platform to communicate and mobilise support.

Nonetheless, the incident highlights how political messaging on social media continues to shape public discourse in Kenya, with even a short caption capable of triggering intense national conversation.
As reactions continue to pour in, Nyamu’s message once again underscores her reputation as one of the most talked-about and polarising figures in Kenya’s political landscape.
