The mystery surrounding the death of veteran politician Cyrus Jirongo has taken a dark turn following new insights from security experts.

Fresh questions are emerging after CCTV footage from Eagol Petrol Station in Naivasha showed the former presidential candidate’s final moments before the fatal crash.

Was he being trailed? Speaking to NTV reports, Security Expert George Musamali said there could be a possibility that Cyrus Jirongo was being trailed.

His death has made headlines for the past week since he was involved in a fatal crash and being a vocal political figure, there have been questions raised not only by his family but also his close friends and other leaders as well as concerned citizens.

A CCTV footage at Eagol Petrol Station, captured Cyrus Jirongo’s car entering the Station. However Jirongo did not stop, instead his car was spotted exiting and making a turn back to Nairobi where he had come from.

Six seconds later, a Probox reportedly with three occupants which was closely following Jirongo’s car also entered the Petrol station and stopped.

This raises doubts, with Security Expert George Musamali saying it was not a coincidence that Jirongo entered the Petrol station and exited without stopping.

According to the expert, there could be a possibility that Jirongo realized he was being trailed in Karen where he was that night hours before fatal crash. Hence, he possibly drove out of Nairobi in a bid to shake off those trailing him.

He argued that Jirongo might have entered the Petrol station and made a turn back the route he came from to try and shake off his pursuers. However he was involved in fatal crash seconds later after his car collided with a speeding Climax bus.

“Possibly, he must have driven out of Nairobi knowing after getting out of Karen where he was, he must have realized that he is under surveillance. And to shake off the surveiling team, he drove out of Nairobi instead of going to his Gigiri home and realized he is under a tiger trail and that is why he drove to Naivasha, and that’s why he was trying to shake off the pursuers, and that’s why he got in and instead of stopping, he left” George Musamali said

This arguably raises doubts among concerned Citizens. Investigations are currently being conducted and as at the time of writing this article, reports were yet to reveal whether the owner or occupants of the Probox that was spotted following Jirongo’s car into Fuel Station in Naivasha have been questioned.
