Kenyans online are in shock after a video surfaced showing a young woman confidently smoking inside a courtroom. The viral clip shows the unidentified lady puffing on a vape pen shortly after the court session had ended.
In the footage, the woman appears relaxed and unaware she’s being filmed. The location is clearly within a courtroom, a space where smoking is strictly prohibited under Kenyan law.
Kenyans on social media had mixed reactions: Some users demanded disciplinary action, insisting that court decorum must be respected at all times. Others brushed off the act, saying the session was over and it shouldn’t be a big issue. A few were more focused on her looks, expressing disbelief that a “well-dressed, beautiful girl” would be vaping indoors.
“Hii ni madharau kwa mahakama. Kuna sheria ama hakuna?” one user commented.
“If court wasn’t in session, I don’t see the issue. But still, it’s a courtroom,” said another.
While vaping is legal in Kenya, smoking or vaping in public indoor spaces such as courtrooms remains prohibited. It remains unclear whether authorities will take any action against the woman.
