Mosquera, 21, is set to join Arsenal’s pre-season squad in Singapore.
Arsenal are on the verge of finalising a deal for highly-rated Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera. The 21-year-old is now flying to Singapore to link up with the Gunners’ pre-season squad, signalling the closing stages of the transfer process.
Valencia has officially allowed Mosquera to travel and join Arsenal’s camp. The young Spaniard has already settled personal terms with the North London club and is now expected to complete his move shortly.
Mosquera is a versatile defender, comfortable both at centre-back and right-back. His arrival will boost competition for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, especially following the exit of Takehiro Tomiyasu, who parted ways with Arsenal after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract.
Last season, Mosquera proved to be a reliable figure for Valencia, featuring in 37 of the club’s 38 league fixtures. In total, he has already racked up 90 senior appearances for the Spanish side and continues to impress at the Under-21 level for Spain.
As the Gunners prepare for a busy tour, they’re set to face AC Milan on Wednesday and Newcastle on Sunday, both in Singapore. The squad will then head to Hong Kong for a clash with rivals Tottenham Hotspur before returning to London ahead of the new season.
