Trump Initiates Legal Action Against Murdoch and WSJ Over Alleged 2003 Epstein Letter
U.S. President Donald Trump has launched a libel and slander lawsuit targeting Dow Jones, News Corp, two reporters from the Wall Street Journal, and the publication’s owner, Rupert Murdoch. This move follows Trump’s threat to pursue legal action against the WSJ after it published a story claiming he sent a sexually suggestive birthday letter to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in 2003.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump declared that he has initiated a ‘powerhouse lawsuit.’ He stated, “We have just filed a POWERHOUSE Lawsuit against everyone involved in publishing the false, malicious, defamatory, FAKE NEWS ‘article’ in the useless ‘rag’ that is The Wall Street Journal.”
“This landmark legal action targets the alleged authors of this defamation along with the now thoroughly discredited WSJ and its corporate owners and affiliates, placing Rupert Murdoch and Robert Thomson (regardless of his role!) at the forefront,” Trump continued.
The lawsuit has been submitted to federal court in Miami’s Southern District of Florida. A complete version of the complaint has not yet been released to the public.
Reasons Behind Trump’s Lawsuit
The Wall Street Journal reported that in 2003, then-real estate tycoon Donald Trump purportedly sent Jeffrey Epstein a birthday letter featuring a nude illustration, Trump’s initials positioned in an inappropriate manner, along with a mention of their mutual “secret.” Additionally, to address discontent among his Republican supporters regarding conspiracy theories related to Epstein, Trump has instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to pursue the unsealing of grand jury testimony from the prosecution against Epstein.
