Australian government cancels Ye’s visa after Nazi-praising song release

American rapper Ye, formerly Kanye West, will no longer be allowed to travel to Australia. The country’s Home Affairs Ministry has officially cancelled his visa following the release of a song that openly supports Nazi ideologies.

The track titled Heil Hitler, which praises Adolf Hitler, was shared widely across social media and streaming platforms in May 2025.

Speaking to national broadcaster ABC, Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke explained that although Ye’s past antisemitic comments had not affected his travel status, the release of this particular song triggered a fresh review by immigration officers.

“We have enough problems in this country already without deliberately importing bigotry,” he said.

He added that Australia did not need voices promoting hate or division, and the decision to cancel Ye’s visa was based on national interest.

Before the ban, Ye had frequently travelled to Australia. His wife, Bianca Censori, is an Australian-born architect, and the couple tied the knot in December 2022. Burke also confirmed that Ye has family connections in the country.

However, the minister’s office did not give the exact date the visa was cancelled. There has also been no immediate response from Ye’s team regarding the matter.

Australia has previously denied entry to other controversial public figures. In October 2024, conservative U.S. influencer Candace Owens was also barred. Burke at the time said:

“Australia’s national interest is best served when Candace Owens is somewhere else.”
