Nigerian Lecturer Found Dead in Hotel After Encounter With 21-Year-Old
A senior lecturer at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, DR. MATTHEW UWUIGBE, has reportedly been found dead inside a hotel room in Ekpoma, Edo State, leaving police to investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding his final moments.
According to a report by Linda Ikeji Blog, the lecturer, who was attached to the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science, reportedly died on Monday, October 5, 2026, at a hotel in the Mosco area of Ekpoma.
Police said Uwuigbe had reportedly lodged at the hotel and allegedly engaged the services of a 21-year-old woman, ANGELA DEFA JACOB, who was said to have been with him shortly before his death.
The woman reportedly left the room after the lecturer asked her to get him water. However, upon returning, she allegedly found him lying lifeless and raised the alarm.
The development has now triggered a police investigation, with the hotel owner, manager and the 21-year-old woman reportedly arrested and detained as authorities work to establish exactly what happened inside the room before the lecturer’s death.
Edo State Police spokesperson ASP ENO IKOEDEM reportedly confirmed the incident, saying the arrests were part of efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the lecturer’s death.
The deceased’s remains have reportedly been deposited at the Oriaifo Memorial Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending the outcome of the investigation. Police have yet to establish the cause of death, and the circumstances surrounding the lecturer’s final moments remain under investigation.
