31-Year-Old Influencer Dies Shortly After Cosmetic Procedures
Brazilian model Ana Bárbara Buhr Buldrini underwent a series of three cosmetic surgeries in Istanbul, Turkey, on Sunday, June 15.
Reports indicate that the Brazilian singer, model, and influencer tragically lost her life following liposuction, breast augmentation, and rhinoplasty conducted in Istanbul.
According to local news source O Tempo, the 31-year-old Buldrini traveled from Mozambique with her husband, Elgar Sueia, who is 30 years old. They arrived in Istanbul specifically for the surgical procedures.
Sueia stated that Buldrini—who had amassed 797,000 followers on Instagram—had an agreement with Tusa Hospital to perform the surgeries in exchange for promoting their services on her social media platforms.
However, he informed O Tempo that his wife suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and passed away just hours after the operations. He further claimed that she was not adequately prepared for the surgeries.
“She aimed to improve her appearance; it was a dream she had cherished for a long time,” he said. “The surgery was originally scheduled for Wednesday [June 18], but due to scheduling issues, the surgeon decided to move it up to Sunday [June 15].”
Turkish news outlet Turkiye Today reported that Sueia mentioned fasting was required before surgery; however, his wife had eaten prior to her procedure.
“We went to the clinic on Sunday simply to get acquainted with the surroundings; nonetheless, the doctor insisted on proceeding without ensuring Ana’s proper readiness,” he remarked during an interview with Brazilian media.
The report also noted that the procedures took place merely two days after their initial consultation.
As reported by G1, Buldrini’s surgeries were completed around 11 p.m. on June 15. Sueia received permission to see his wife and was assured she would awaken despite still being under anesthesia.
“They told me I could go into her room; however, I noticed something off about how the staff were behaving,” Sueia recounted according to G1. “I waited over an hour for her. When I went down to the ground floor, a doctor informed me that her heart rate was low; another confirmed she had already died.”
In light of Buldrini’s premature death, Sueia took to Instagram to express his sorrow.
“I speak today not only as a husband grieving for my beloved—Ana Bárbara Buhr Buldrini—but also as someone searching for truth and justice,” he wrote alongside a post linking to a news article from Turkish television station EKOL TV regarding her case.
“On June 16th, 2025, Ana tragically lost her life at a private clinic in Pendik, Istanbul. She arrived in this country filled with hope and trust.”
He further commented, “That trust has been broken by a system that allowed this incident to happen without oversight.”
In a statement provided by Turkiye Today, Tusa Hospital claimed they fully informed Buldrini about all pertinent legal and medical information while mentioning an “unexpected complication” during her recovery phase. The hospital asserted that resuscitation attempts were made for 90 minutes.
“Despite every effort from our skilled anesthesiology team, we could not revive the patient,” concluded their statement.
PEOPLE magazine reached out for comments from Tusa Hospital as well as Turkish National Police, but has yet to receive any response.
