Young Life Cut Short in Brutal Attack
Shock and grief have gripped residents of Mwiki Phase III, Kasarani, after an 18-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and killed in one of the area’s most chilling incidents in recent times.
The victim, identified as Abigael Wanjiku, had just cleared her KCSE exams in 2024 and was preparing to start the next phase of her life, her mother confirmed.
According to a preliminary police report, Wanjiku suffered at least five stab wounds, with injuries found on her neck, head, and stomach. Her body also showed blunt force trauma, suggesting she was beaten during the assault.
At the scene, detectives recovered a blood-stained kitchen knife, believed to have been used to stab her. A cooking pan, suspected to have been used to hit her, was also found nearby.
Body Taken to Kenyatta University Mortuary
Her lifeless body was moved to the Kenyatta University Hospital mortuary as homicide officers launched investigations into what they are describing as a heinous and calculated crime.
Investigations Underway
Police say they are following multiple leads, with the possibility of more than one suspect involved still on the table.
So far, no arrests have been made, but detectives are treating the matter with urgency, given the gruesome nature of the killing.
Public Demands Justice
The incident has sparked outrage online, with Kenyans calling for swift justice and tougher measures to curb rising violence against young women.
As investigations continue, Wanjiku’s family and the Mwiki community are left mourning a bright future violently cut short.
