A South African national, identified as Mark Nalon Minter, aged 60, was found dead inside the bathroom of his Nairobi residence on Wednesday morning, May 7. He had been in the country on a business visit.
Arrived with Plans, Left Too Soon
Minter had arrived in Kenya on May 1 and was expected to fly back on May 10. Police confirmed he was not alone during the trip and had been staying with a woman who was present when the incident happened.
Woman Gives Her Account
According to the woman, the two had dinner together and went to bed as usual. But the following morning, she woke up and noticed Minter wasn’t in bed. She went looking for him and found him lying unconscious in the bathroom.
Medics Could Not Save Him
An ambulance was called immediately, but when St John’s Ambulance responders arrived, they declared him dead at the scene. His sudden death shocked the woman and raised concern among officials.
Medication Discovered
During the police check, officers recovered various pills from the man’s luggage. The medicine is believed to be for managing high blood pressure and diabetes—two conditions known to cause sudden complications.
Cause of Death Under Investigation
Police have since launched an investigation to uncover what exactly caused Minter’s death. They are expected to rely on postmortem results to determine whether any underlying health issues or other factors were involved.
