Liverpool manager Arne Slot admits the club is sad about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s decision to leave.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has admitted the club is feeling the weight of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s decision to walk away at the end of the season. The defender, whose contract expires in June, confirmed earlier this week that he’ll be moving on — news that has left fans and the club with mixed emotions.

Slot Yet to Have Full Talk with Trent

While Slot hasn’t had a proper sit-down with the 26-year-old, he said they’ve exchanged messages via WhatsApp. A face-to-face meeting is set for Friday to better understand how Trent is handling the reactions and to possibly get more clarity on what lies ahead.

“We’re All Disappointed,” Says Slot

Speaking during a pre-match briefing, Slot admitted that seeing a long-serving player and academy graduate leave is painful.

“Anyone who loves Liverpool is disappointed. We’re not just losing a great full-back, we’re also losing a great person,” Slot said.

He stressed that while it’s a tough loss, this kind of situation is not new in football, especially for him.

Slot Remains Calm and Confident

Drawing from his past experiences at AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, Slot noted that talented players leaving is part of the game. He added that in most cases, another strong player always steps up to fill the gap, and he expects the same at Liverpool.

“This club has history. When a top player exits, another one usually rises,” Slot said with confidence.

Arsenal Clash Awaits

Liverpool will host second-placed Arsenal this Sunday in a crucial Premier League showdown. While emotions around Trent’s exit continue to linger, Slot and his team are expected to stay focused on their title chase.
