Six Fatalities in Tavern Shooting in Olievenhoutbosch, Pretoria
A mass shooting at a tavern in the Choba informal settlement of Olievenhoutbosch on Tuesday night resulted in the deaths of six individuals and left several others injured.
As reported by law enforcement, around 9 p.m., a group of roughly ten armed men entered the tavern and began firing indiscriminately. Among the deceased are two women and three men, while an additional three individuals have sustained serious injuries.
Witnesses recounted scenes of pandemonium as patrons attempted to escape to safety. The crime scene has been marked by bloodstains and bullet casings, which authorities have sealed off for further investigation.
The owner of the tavern has been taken into custody for questioning; however, the motive behind the attack remains unknown. The Provincial Commissioner’s Office released a statement confirming the occurrence and encouraging community members with relevant information to step forward.
“We are actively searching for the suspects and request that the public help us bring them to justice,” stated the announcement.
Residents are left feeling unsettled, with many hesitant to speak publicly due to fear. Law enforcement continues to collect evidence as efforts to locate the suspects escalate.
