  • Senator Tabitha Karanja is receiving treatment at a London hospital, Governor Kihika confirms.
  • Governor Kihika wished her well but reminded her not to attack others during vulnerable moments.
  • Kihika slammed the senator for criticizing her maternity leave, calling it unnecessary and personal.
  • Karanja earlier accused the Governor of failing to follow proper procedures during her absence.
  • Kihika warned Karanja to focus on her own duties instead of playing early political games for 2027.

Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja is currently admitted to a hospital in London, according to Governor Susan Kihika. Speaking during an interview on Thursday, May 1, Kihika sent her well wishes to the senator, hoping for a smooth recovery.

“I wish Senator Tabitha Karanja a quick recovery. I understand she is undergoing treatment in London,” said the Governor.

Kihika Reacts Strongly to Maternity Leave Criticism

Although she wished her well, Governor Kihika did not shy away from addressing recent remarks made by the senator. Kihika was clearly displeased by Karanja’s questioning of her maternity leave and responded firmly.

“Children are blessings from God. No one should be attacked when they’re already down,” Kihika said.

Personal Attacks Not the Way to Go, Kihika Says

Governor Kihika added that she has no personal problem with the senator but advised her to focus on her own role. She hinted that Senator Karanja’s motives might be politically driven ahead of 2027.

“She should stay in her lane and concentrate on her work. I know what she’s aiming for in 2027, but she’s going about it wrongly—too personal. If she’s truly delivered for the people, then they’ll reward her without her needing to attack others,” Kihika noted.

Karanja’s Claims Spark Political Tension

Senator Karanja recently accused the Governor of overstaying her maternity leave without officially notifying the employer. She also said the Governor didn’t properly delegate her powers as required by law during such an absence.

“We’re happy for her, no doubt. But Governor Kihika has been away for too long without formally informing the people who elected her,” Karanja said.

She added, “The real employers are the people of Nakuru, and there’s no official notice explaining her leave.”
