Russia blasts the U.S. for launching airstrikes in the Middle East

Russia has come out strongly against the recent U.S. strikes in the Middle East, accusing Washington of repeating the same mistakes it made during the 2003 Iraq invasion.

Speaking at the United Nations, Russia’s Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said the U.S. was once again misleading the world with what he called “fairytales” — just like it did two decades ago.

Nebenzia reminded the council of how former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell had falsely claimed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction — a move that led to the invasion and untold destruction in the region.

“We remember Powell’s test tube moment very well,” Nebenzia said. “Now they’re trying to sell us another lie — at the cost of lives.”

Russia’s top envoy insisted that the U.S. has failed to learn from its historical blunders. He criticized the strikes for causing unnecessary suffering and escalating tension across the already fragile Middle East.

“Once again, millions of innocent people in the region are being put at risk,” he added. “It seems history has taught our American colleagues nothing.”

Russia’s comments reflect growing global frustration with U.S. foreign policy, especially when military action is taken without international consensus.

As U.S. forces brace for possible retaliation from Iran and other hostile forces, the diplomatic fallout is intensifying, with nations like Russia positioning themselves as vocal critics of Western aggression.
