Raphinha wins La Liga Player of the Year after an impressive 2024/25 season.
Brazilian forward Raphinha has been named La Liga Player of the Year, a reward for his fantastic form that helped Barcelona win both the league and the domestic cup. The 28-year-old was key in the club’s strong performances throughout the season, showing great speed, sharp footwork, and a strong work ethic on the wing.
After joining Barcelona from Leeds United in 2022, Raphinha has grown into a fan favourite. This season, he scored 18 goals and assisted 9 times, making him one of the most important players under the club’s new management.
Leadership, Loyalty, and Young Talent
Interestingly, Raphinha was close to leaving Camp Nou last summer. But things took a different turn when new manager Hansi Flick stepped in. Flick not only kept the winger but also made him team captain and handed him a fresh contract running until July 2028.
“His impact this season was massive,” Flick said. “He led by example, pressed with intensity, and delivered whenever we needed him.”
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Lamine Yamal also made headlines after being awarded Under-23 Player of the Year. The young attacker, already breaking records at his age, is seen as a future superstar in both club and international football.
As Barcelona celebrates a successful return to the top, both Raphinha’s honour and Yamal’s breakthrough mark a new era filled with promise and leadership at the heart of the squad.
