Police detain a suspect in mzuzu district: Ras Kepson Wali, 29, has been taken into custody by Mzuzu police on charges of deliberately damaging a nearby home and setting fire to the top of a Rastafarian temple.

The tragedy happened in the city’s Mchengautuwa township during the evening of June 6-7, 2025.

The Mchengautuwa Police Unit was notified of the situation, and after visiting the scene and conducting investigations, Wali was apprehended on June 13, 2025, at a residence in Nambo township where he was hiding.

Police confiscated a plastic bag containing cannabis sativa during the arrest.

After completing the required papers, the suspect will shortly appear in court to respond to charges of malicious damage, arson, and possession of cannabis sativa.

Wali is a native of Mzimba District’s Muhawi Village, Traditional Authority Mabulabo.
