A Nairobi businessman is counting heavy losses after falling victim to a daring daytime robbery. The man had just withdrawn Sh7 million from a bank along Mama Ngina Street and was heading to a forex bureau on Koinange Street when trouble struck.

Victim Surrounded in a Well-Planned Ambush

At exactly 9:47 am, as he walked down an alley, a group of around 12 people suddenly confronted him. Within seconds, confusion broke out. While some gang members distracted him, one of them made away with the bag of cash and jumped into a waiting van.

CCTV Footage Reveals Planned Move

Surveillance footage from nearby buildings showed how the criminals approached the businessman calmly before causing panic. In the middle of the chaos, the cash was snatched, and part of the gang escaped on foot while others left in a vehicle parked nearby.

Police Suspect Inside Information

Detectives say the robbery was likely not random. There’s strong suspicion the robbers had prior knowledge of the cash movement and possibly followed the man right from the bank. The victim reported the incident at Central Police Station, triggering immediate investigations.

Officers Visit the Scene and Begin Investigations

Police officers have since visited both the scene of the robbery and the bank involved. They’re now reviewing the CCTV footage, speaking with witnesses, and working on leads that could help identify and arrest the suspects behind the theft.

Business Community Left Worried

This incident has sparked fresh concerns about security for cash-in-transit operations in Nairobi. Many in the business world are now questioning how such a large amount of money could be moved without proper escort in the city’s busy central area.
