Jobe Bellingham has joined Borussia Dortmund on a contract running until June 2030.
Jobe Bellingham has officially signed with Borussia Dortmund, putting pen to paper on a five-year deal that will keep him at the Bundesliga club until June 2030. The 19-year-old midfielder, who had an impressive season with Sunderland, is now set to follow in his older brother Jude’s footsteps—this time in yellow and black.
The move marks Sunderland’s biggest sale in club history. Although the exact figure wasn’t disclosed, sources indicate the fee is around €32 million (£26.96 million), with an extra €5 million (£4.2 million) in performance-based add-ons. This record-breaking transfer comes after a standout season where Jobe played a key role in Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League.
Jobe began his football journey at Birmingham City, rising through their academy before getting two seasons under his belt in senior football. He then joined Sunderland in 2023 and went on to make 90 appearances for the club. His consistent performances and maturity on the pitch quickly earned him praise and recognition.
In his farewell message, Jobe reflected warmly on his bond with the Sunderland fanbase.
“I will always represent Wearside in all that I strive to achieve for the rest of my career, wherever that may be,” he wrote.
He also thanked the supporters for their faith and support during his time at the club.
Jobe’s performances didn’t go unnoticed. He was crowned Championship Young Player of the Season, further cementing his rising profile in European football. Now, with a fresh challenge ahead in Germany, all eyes will be on the young midfielder as he takes the next step in his promising career.
