Interpol and police from 12 countries teamed up in a major child pornography sting.
A wide international operation targeting child sexual abuse has led to the arrest of 20 people across Europe and the Americas, according to Interpol’s announcement on Friday. The crackdown, launched by Spanish authorities and supported by Interpol, focused on online platforms where child abuse material was being spread.
The mission began when Spanish police stumbled upon suspicious activity during routine online monitoring back in late 2024. They discovered private messaging groups that were actively sharing child exploitation content. This prompted deeper investigations and quick coordination with law enforcement in several countries.
Teachers, Health Workers Among the Accused
The arrests took place over three months—from March to May 2025—with most of the suspects captured in Spain. A total of seven people were detained there, including a medical worker accused of buying explicit images from minors in Eastern Europe. A school teacher was also arrested for distributing abusive content across multiple social platforms. Another teacher linked to the network was picked up in Panama.
Interpol confirmed that the other arrests happened in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Paraguay, and the United States, along with several European nations. A wider circle of 68 suspects has been flagged and is currently under investigation.
Several electronic items were taken in as evidence—these include phones, tablets, computers, and storage drives. Authorities said that the investigation is far from over, highlighting how important global cooperation is in breaking down such harmful networks.
