Max Verstappen was the fastest driver on the first morning of the Formula 1 winter test in Bahrain.
He completed a large number of laps in the new Red Bull RB20 after some initial struggles with the car’s balance.
Verstappen set the fastest time of the morning session on medium tires, ahead of Charles Leclerc and Fernando Alonso who also set their fastest times on the same compound.
In an interesting development, Jeff Dodds, the CEO of Formula E, has promised to donate $250,000 to charity if Max Verstappen does not win the 2024 Formula 1 championship.
If any of the other nineteen drivers win, Dodds has pledged to transfer the money to the charity chosen by the winning driver.
It is unclear whether Dodds supports the charity and is not confident in Verstappen’s chances, or if he believes that Verstappen is the favourite
to win and has made the promise to add excitement to the season.
