Apple launches slimmer iPhone Air, new iPhone 17
- Apple introduced the iPhone Air, its slimmest model at 5.5mm, during a launch event led by CEO Tim Cook in Cupertino, California.
- The iPhone 17 Pro offers up to 39 hours of video playback, with improved performance over the previous model, according to Apple.
- The new Apple Watch Series 11 includes a hypertension detection feature and offers 42 hours of battery life, according to Apple.
- Apple’s new AirPods Pro 3 feature Live Translation, delivering twice the active noise cancellation compared to the previous model.
On Tuesday, Apple debuted multiple new devices, including the iPhone Air, which is the thinnest phone Apple has ever released.
“The all-new iPhone Air is so powerful, yet impossibly thin and light, that you really have to hold it to believe it’s real,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering at Tuesday’s product launch event at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.
The iPhone Air, which only measures 5.6mm in width, is available in four colors: Space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue.
He further explained that despite this phone being lightweight, it delivers ” [iPhone] pro performance, a versatile 48MP Fusion camera system, our innovative Center Stage front camera, and great all-day battery life — all in a breakthrough design that feels like you’re holding the future.”
How to pre-order
Apple confirmed that pre-orders for the new iPhone 17 range would begin on Friday, September 12, and will launch on Friday, September 19.
Preorders can be completed through the Apple website.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1199, and the iPhone 17 Pro is from $1099.
The iPhone 17 is $799, and the 17 Air is from $999.
The Air has a ceramic shield on both sides and comes in four colours, and is Apple’s “most durable design yet”.
The iPhone Air is described as the brand’s thinnest phone but with the power of an iPhone Pro.
