Pastor Victor Kanyari has strongly rubbished claims suggesting that he had delayed taking custody of his children, due to alleged political ambitions or a desire to protect certain political relationships.

Speaking candidly, the controversial preacher dismissed the rumours as baseless and unfair, saying critics had wrongly linked his private family matters to politics without any evidence.

Kanyari noted that in recent months, his every move had been closely scrutinised by members of the public, some of whom he accused of spreading misinformation.

He explained that the period following the death of his ex-wife, Betty, had been extremely sensitive, requiring patience, wisdom and respect for everyone involved especially the children.

According to the pastor, decisions surrounding custody could not be rushed or handled emotionally. He said he had been carefully navigating the situation to ensure the well-being and emotional stability of his children, who were still processing the loss of their mother.

Kanyari stressed that his actions were guided by concern for their mental and emotional health, not personal interests or public image.

He also addressed harsh claims branding him a coward for allegedly failing to immediately take custody of the children from their stepfather, despite weeks having passed since Betty’s passing.

Kanyari dismissed the accusations, saying such commentary ignored the legal and emotional complexities involved in custody matters.

He added that respect for the existing family arrangement and ongoing discussions was necessary to avoid causing further trauma to the children.

The preacher further warned against the culture of online judgment, noting that many critics lacked full information but were quick to form damaging narratives.

He urged the public to exercise empathy, particularly when dealing with sensitive family issues involving minors.

Kanyari maintained that the situation was being handled responsibly and in the best interests of his children.

He reassured supporters that, when the right time comes, all necessary steps would be taken lawfully and respectfully.

The pastor concluded by asking the public to allow the family space and privacy as they continue to heal from their loss.
