Governor Wavinya Ndeti officially opens the upgraded Mlolongo roads, built to bitumen standard. Discover how this infrastructure project improves access to Mlolongo Dispensary and local businesses.
MLOLONGO, MACHAKOS – Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has officially commissioned several newly upgraded roads in Mlolongo, marking a significant milestone in the county’s infrastructure development agenda.
The project aims to provide residents and traders with improved access to essential services and smoother transport networks.

Key Infrastructure Upgrades in Mlolongo
The road project, which transitioned previously gravel surfaces to high-quality bitumen standards, covers three critical sections:
- The Police Housing Loop Road
- Mlolongo Dispensary Access Road
- Assisi Nursing Home Access Road
According to Governor Ndeti, these routes had long been a pain point for the community. Before the upgrade, the roads often became impassable during the rainy seasons, leading to significant disruptions in daily movement and local economic activities.
Improving Healthcare Access and Trade
The Governor emphasized that the primary goal of the Mlolongo road project is to ensure reliable, year-round accessibility.
“I personally inspected the road to confirm it meets all required standards and serves the community effectively,” Ndeti stated via X (formerly Twitter).
She highlighted that the upgrades are vital for residents seeking urgent medical care at the Mlolongo Dispensary and Assisi Nursing Home, where poor road conditions previously caused dangerous delays.
For local traders and the business community, the bitumen-standard roads mean reduced vehicle maintenance costs and more efficient logistics.

“For years, these roads became nearly impassable whenever it rained, disrupting movement, business, and access to essential services. Today, that challenge is a thing of the past. The upgraded road will ensure smooth and reliable access regardless of the weather,” the Governor added.
A Vision for Machakos County Infrastructure
This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Machakos County Government to modernize transport networks and bridge historical infrastructure gaps.
Governor Ndeti reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to delivering on her “Chakula Mezani, Pesa MFukoni” philosophy by creating an enabling environment for trade through better roads.
Similar road construction projects are currently planned for other sub-counties across Machakos to ensure equitable development and improved service delivery for all residents.
