First Lady Rachel Ruto has offered a heartfelt reflection on her educational journey, revealing why she was determined to join Kenyatta University despite having other options.
Speaking in a recent event, she shared that her decision was driven by a deep desire to experience life in the capital city, Nairobi, a dream she had held from her school days.
Rachel Ruto recounted that she first left her rural home when she was admitted to Kenyatta University, marking a major turning point in her life.

Having studied at Butere Girls High School, she felt strongly that moving from Butere to Eldoret did not offer the change she longed for.
Instead, she envisioned Nairobi as a place of opportunity, growth and exposure, and Kenyatta University became the perfect gateway to that future.
Her passion for joining the institution was so strong that she selected Kenyatta University as her first, second and third choices during the university placement process.
This unwavering preference ensured she secured a place at the institution, where she pursued her training as a teacher.

The First Lady’s story highlights her determination, clarity of purpose and belief in the transformative power of education.
It also sheds light on the personal aspirations that shaped her journey long before she became a national figure.
Her experience continues to inspire young Kenyans, especially girls, to pursue their goals with confidence and persistence, regardless of their background.
