A lady recounts her painful love journey with a man she met during campus days. Despite being heartbroken before, she gave love another chance.

It all began one sunny afternoon back in 2013 when I met this charming young man named Enoch. He had lost his way around the hostel, so I helped him find the direction. We exchanged contacts, and that simple act opened the door to endless conversations and laughter. He was kind, calm, and funny, exactly the type of person I had promised myself to avoid after a painful heartbreak.

At that time, I had sworn off men. My previous boyfriend broke my virginity, my trust, and my heart. Being a pastor’s daughter raised under strict Christian values, I believed love was pure. But life taught me differently. Enoch, however, came with a calm spirit that slowly melted my fears.

What started as a friendship quickly turned into a bond I couldn’t resist. He never officially asked me out, but our connection grew stronger each day. He was struggling financially, so I often cooked and supported him. To me, he was genuine until the day I received a call that shattered my peace.

While I was home for the weekend, a friend called to say Enoch had brought another girl to the hostel. He told me it was his ex, Abrafi, who had come to discuss some “personal matters.” I didn’t like it, but I let it slide, hoping it was innocent.

After Enoch graduated, we stayed in touch and promised to make things official after my studies. On his birthday, I called early in the morning, only for a woman to answer his phone. Her tone was sharp. She introduced herself as Enoch’s girlfriend, Abrafi, and warned me never to disturb their sleep again. I was speechless, especially after hearing a baby crying in the background.

When I confronted Enoch, he confessed that he had a baby with her but claimed they were no longer together. Out of love, I chose to believe him and even fought for our relationship.

Later, I got Abrafi’s number and reached out to her. To my surprise, she told me calmly, “Enoch is my husband. We even have another baby on the way.” My world fell apart.

I realised how blind love had made me. The man who pretended to be broke had already built a beautiful house and lived with his family. When my parents confronted him, he begged for forgiveness, while his wife told me to stay away. I was broken but decided to move on.

I eventually met another man who seemed genuine. We planned to marry after I gave birth, but after my delivery, he left me for someone else. This time, I didn’t cry much, maybe because my heart was already tired of pain.

Then fate brought Enoch back. I met him again at Adum town. He looked successful and warm, and before I knew it, we were back in each other’s arms. What was meant to be a single mistake turned into another pregnancy and then another one later.

Today, I have three children, two with Enoch and one from my previous relationship. Ironically, it’s my first baby daddy who supports all of them. Enoch always claims he’s broke and cannot help because he already has four children with his wife.

When I visited his home recently, I was shocked to find them living comfortably with two cars, happy children, and a smiling wife. He only sent me money after I threatened to expose our affair. But one payment can’t buy my silence.

Now, I’m torn. I want him to take care of his children and also face the truth. I believe his wife deserves to know about us. After all, I have two of his sons, and no man wants to marry me because of that. Maybe if she knows, she might understand my pain.
