Muhoroni Youth FC named Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi as their new patron.
Muhoroni Youth FC has officially appointed Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi as the new club patron.
The ceremony, held in Muhoroni, Kisumu County, brought together fans, players, and officials to mark what many described as a new beginning.
In a statement, the club thanked Sudi for accepting the role, calling his leadership a big boost for their journey back to competitiveness.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Oscar Kipchumba Sudi for agreeing to serve as our patron. His leadership and support will be vital as we chart a new path for Muhoroni Youth FC,” the club said.
The announcement comes after a difficult year for the team.
In May 2025, FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee punished Muhoroni Youth over alleged match manipulation.
The ruling saw the club relegated from the National Super League to FKF Division One.
This setback was a huge blow for a team that once played in the Kenyan Premier League and even won national trophies.
Speaking at the unveiling, Oscar Sudi assured the fans that he is ready to support the club’s return to glory.
“Muhoroni Youth FC has a rich history and passionate supporters. I want to work closely with the players, management, and community to bring this team back to the top,” he said.
Sudi, a vocal UDA legislator, has recently shown interest in youth sports and grassroots development. His appointment is expected to bring political goodwill, financial backing, and new energy to the team.
Founded in 2003, Muhoroni Youth FC rose steadily and eventually played in the Kenyan Premier League.
The club became known for developing local talent and showing a strong fighting spirit.
However, financial struggles, leadership wrangles, and the FIFA punishment have left the team struggling in lower divisions.
The new patron is now seen as a key figure who can restore stability and attract resources for rebuilding.
Kenyan football has a long history of political leaders stepping in as club patrons.
Gor Mahia has enjoyed long-time support from Raila Odinga, who is also one of its biggest fans.
AFC Leopards previously had Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi as patron, a role that strengthened his bond with the club’s supporters.
Murang’a Seal gained major visibility when Ndindi Nyoro took over as patron.
Kakamega Homeboyz continues to benefit from Governor Fernandes Barasa’s involvement, including infrastructure and logistical support.
Muhoroni Youth now joins this list, with Sudi’s entry expected to energise the club and its supporters.
