Mariga accuses Bahati of failing to honour a KSh1 M pledge to Harambee Stars.
Former Harambee Stars star and now FKF Vice President, McDonald Mariga, has taken a swipe at singer Bahati for what he described as “empty promises.” According to Mariga, Bahati had earlier promised to donate Ksh1 million to support the national team but has since failed to deliver.
Mariga said Bahati first called him directly, insisting he was committed to the donation. But after that, things changed.
“Alinipigia mara ya kwanza akasema atapatiana one million. Lakini sasa nikimpigia hashiki simu. Mara anasema yuko Naivasha, mara sijui wapi. Hakuna kitu iko clear,” Mariga explained in a phone call with Silva Kido, which has since gone viral.
The ex-midfielder went on to accuse Bahati of chasing fame rather than genuinely helping Harambee Stars.
“Unajua mimi sipendi waongo. Hizo za kujionyesha kwa mitandao, mimi sifanyi. Zile promises anatoa ni uwongo. Aache kutumia majina za watu kujipush,” Mariga stated firmly.
He wrapped up his remarks with a direct challenge to the musician:
“Mimi namgoja. Alete hizo pesa na aongee kama mwanaume.”
