
Train and truck collision in Denmark: one dead and several injured
In Denmark, a passenger train derailed after colliding with agricultural machinery. One woman died, and five were seriously injured. An investigation is underway to determine the causes of the accident.
DENMARK, Southern Jutland — A passenger train owned by the Danish State Railways crashed near the town of Bjerndrup in Southern Jutland.
The incident occurred at a railway crossing where the train collided with agricultural machinery. According to the police, the train was traveling at high speed at the time of the crash.
As a result of the accident, a 60-year-old woman died. Additionally, five people sustained serious injuries, two of whom are in critical condition. Another 24 people were injured, with two victims remaining in critical condition.
Medical and rescue services arrived at the scene: ten ambulances, four emergency vehicles, and four helicopters.
According to Danish police data, there were a total of 95 passengers on board the train, which was traveling from Copenhagen to Sønderborg.
A crane was used at the scene to lift the damaged carriages. Police dogs and drones were deployed to thoroughly inspect the accident site.
No new casualties have been found.
According to DW, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed regret over the incident. Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen emphasized the need to prepare a report on the causes of the accident. The investigation aims to determine whether warning signals at the crossing were functioning at the time of the collision.
