The court bars Musa Hussein Lenyumpa from contacting or associating with Senator Lemaletian.
Nairobi, Kenya – Nominated Senator Hezena Lemaletian has obtained a court order shielding her from any form of contact or association with her former partner, Musa Hussein Lenyumpa.
The ruling by Magistrate Festus Terer prohibits Musa from threatening, harassing, assaulting, or interfering with the Senator’s personal life. He is also banned from using her name, image, or likeness for any purpose.
The court’s directives state that Musa cannot publish any information about the Senator. He is barred from accessing her home or workplace. The orders remain in force until further notice.
The matter will be revisited on September 22, 2025, to determine whether the restrictions should be extended.
Through her lawyer, Danstan Omari, Senator Lemaletian explained that she and Musa were only engaged in a Samburu customary courtship, which she later ended.
She noted that no dowry was paid, and the KSh 100,000 “ropiyani e loip” given to her was a cultural token of appreciation money she has since returned in full.
The Senator accused Musa of issuing death threats, engaging in physical violence, and spreading false claims that they were married.
The case has stirred public debate over how customary relationships interact with Kenya’s legal system, especially when involving public figures.
