Over 520 pupils to benefit from new classrooms, labs, and facilities
M-PESA Foundation has committed KES 35 million to improve infrastructure at Limbine Primary School in Meru County. The investment will benefit over 520 students by enhancing access to quality education.
The development includes the construction of six new classrooms for Grades 1 to 6, renovation of four old ones, a fully equipped science lab, new toilets for both learners and teachers, and a modern kitchen. The existing administration block will also be refurbished.
During the launch of the project, Safaricom Foundation Chairman Joseph Ogutu emphasised the importance of education in transforming lives.
“Education is a great equaliser, opening doors and improving people’s lives regardless of their background or circumstances,” he said.
“Despite the progress we’ve made, lack of infrastructure still holds many schools back. That’s why M-PESA Foundation continues to invest in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, county governments, and local communities under the Citizens of the Future Programme.”
This isn’t the first time Safaricom is stepped in to support schools in the region. So far, KES 126 million has been spent on various education projects in Meru County.
Recently, the Foundation began building new learning facilities at Lubunu Primary School, showing continued investment in improving learning conditions.
Work at Limbine Primary is set to start right away, with completion expected in the coming months. Community members and education leaders have praised the initiative, saying it brings fresh hope to local children and their future.
