During a memorial service at Pastor Victor Kanyari’s church, his brother Mwangi sent a pointed message that the children left behind by gospel singer Betty Bayo should return to their father’s family.
Mwangi argued that “you cannot coparent with another man,” signaling that the kids may not remain under the care of Bayo’s widower, Tash. He added that having them back with Kanyari would give them a chance to connect with their cousins.

The remarks come amid growing public debate over the custody of their two children, Sky and Dani, after Bayo’s sudden passing. Kanyari himself has maintained that he will fight for full custody, stressing that these are his “own blood.”
He has also reportedly secured a KSh 90 million mansion in Runda, Nairobi, where he plans to raise the children.

Despite the tension, Kanyari has publicly affirmed that he bears no ill will toward Tash. He has granted Tash visiting rights, acknowledging that the latter had lived with the children and played a role in their upbringing.

Meanwhile, legal experts speculate that a formal custody arrangement may be needed to clarify guardianship.
