“Wametushinda Hadi Elimu” – Tanzanians Shocked as Kenyan Gen Z Nabbed for Betting Site Hack

A 26-year-old Kenyan man, Seth Mwabe, was arrested for hacking a betting platform and stealing Ksh11 million.

Police in Tanzania confirmed the arrest of 26-year-old Kenyan youth, Seth Mwabe, after he allegedly hacked a betting website and siphoned off KSh11 million.

Mwabe, who dropped out of university, is said to have executed the complex cybercrime single-handedly, leaving many stunned by both the scale of the theft and the expertise involved.

The incident quickly trended across Tanzanian platforms, sparking mixed reactions. Some commenters admitted Kenyans are “more learned” and far ahead in technology.

“Wametushinda mpaka elimu jameni,” one Tanzanian wrote, acknowledging Kenya’s edge in IT know-how.

Others insisted such a hack could only be done by foreigners in Tanzania and stressed that anyone found guilty would face extremely heavy punishment up to 26 years in jail.

Back home, Kenyans on social media noted that cybercrimes are becoming frequent, with young people sharpening IT skills but sometimes applying them in unlawful ways.

Mwabe’s arrest has stirred a bigger debate on the role of technology, joblessness among youth, and how talent can turn destructive when not guided positively.
