The Vatican has confirmed the passing of Pope Francis, who died due to a stroke that led to a coma and irreversible heart failure, as reported in a medical statement released on Monday evening.
Dr. Andrea Arcangeli, the Director of the Directorate of Health and Hygiene for Vatican City State, issued the official declaration following a comprehensive evaluation of the late pontiff’s health condition.
The report reveals that the Pope had a medical history that included acute respiratory failure from multimicrobial bilateral pneumonia, multiple bronchiectases, hypertension, and Type II diabetes.
His death was confirmed through electrocardiographic thanatography. “I hereby declare,” stated Dr. Arcangeli, “that the causes of death, to the best of my knowledge and judgment, are as outlined above.”
Elected in March 2013, Pope Francis served as the leader of the Catholic Church and the sovereign of Vatican City State for 12 years.
His passing took place mere hours after a meeting with United States Vice President JD Vance and just one day following his public appearance in St. Peter’s Square during Easter Sunday.
