Unidentified attackers savagely murdered a child: Following the horrific murder of a small child by unidentified intruders, who gouged out his eyes, Malawi police began a manhunt.

Mangochi police are searching for unidentified attackers who killed 5-year-old Brian Alabi. His body was found buried in a garden close to his home in Mkwesa Village, Traditional Authority Bwananyambi.

June 5, 2025, was the date of the horrifying occurrence. His mother, 23-year-old Latifa Bilutoni, and a few neighbors went to tend to their vegetable gardens the day before, leaving Brian at home to play with other kids.

When Bilutoni returned home and could not find her son, she told her uncle and the village headman, who, with the assistance of the locals, launched a search. However, their efforts proved futile.

On the morning after, the search was resumed. While doing so, a few villagers heard a dog digging in a nearby garden and barking. A closer examination revealed the presence of human fingers sticking out of the ground. Subsequently, authorities confirmed that the body belonged to Brian.

A clinical officer from Chiponde Health Centre hurried to the site with police officers from Chiponde Police Unit. Numerous wounds were discovered on the body when it was excavated; the neck was securely bound with a piece of fabric, both eyes were poked, and there was bleeding from the mouth and nose.

A postmortem analysis revealed that strangling was the primary cause of death, with head injuries and a twisted neck following closely behind.

The district’s police have begun a manhunt to find the unidentified attackers, who will be charged with murder if they are found.

Mangochi police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the attackers’ arrest to come forward and assist with the investigation.
