Uhuru Kenyatta Reveals He Has Been Facing Health Challenges of Cancer

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has disclosed that he has been battling health challenges. He spoke during the memorial service of former HF Group CEO Frank Ireri.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has opened up about his personal health struggles, revealing that the late Frank Ireri, former Housing Finance (HF) boss, played a key role in supporting him through the difficult period.

Speaking during Ireri’s memorial service, Uhuru noted that Ireri was a reassuring and uplifting presence, even while facing his own cancer battle.

“In the last year and a good part of this year, whenever we met, he was very encouraging about some of the challenges we were going through. He guided us on how to handle these challenges in life, health, and otherwise,” Uhuru said.

Uhuru recalled how Ireri offered him comfort and hope, urging him to remain strong in the face of adversity.

“He really held our hands and told us, ‘Don’t worry. This will come to pass,’” he stated.

The former President did not reveal details regarding his health condition, but his remarks marked a rare moment of publicly acknowledging his personal struggles.

Uhuru emphasised the importance of faith and gratitude, noting that Ireri’s passing reminded him of life’s fragility.

“For those of us who have challenges, we will continue fighting with them. But when it is God’s time, we shall join him and be thankful for the life we shared,” he said.

Frank Ireri, who led Housing Finance Group and worked in the banking sector for years, was celebrated as a humble and resilient leader. He passed away after a long battle with cancer.

The memorial brought together family, colleagues, and leaders who paid tribute to his legacy of mentorship, compassion, and service.

Uhuru’s message offered Kenyans a rare glimpse into his personal life, highlighting that even national leaders face silent battles. His words resonated as a reminder that strength is not the absence of struggle, but the courage to endure through it.
