“Tuheshimiane” Former President Uhuru Kenyatta Fiercely Sends a Strong Warning to Junet & Gladys Wanga Following 1Billion Bribe Accusations

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a stern warning to ODM leaders Junet Mohamed and Gladys Wanga following claims that he was plotting to destabilize the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) through a Sh1 billion bribe scheme.

Speaking during the burial ceremony of former Cabinet Minister Cyrus Jirongo in Kakamega County, Uhuru broke his silence after sustained accusations from sections of the ODM leadership.

In a firm but measured tone, the retired Head of State dismissed the allegations and cautioned party leaders against dragging his name into internal political battles.

“Mimi ni mstaafu, lakini si kusema uniingize kidole kwa macho. Mimi pia nitakuingiza, tuheshimiane,” Uhuru said, loosely translated to mean that while he is retired, he would not tolerate provocation or disrespect.

His remarks appeared directed at Junet Mohamed and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who have recently accused him of attempting to wreck the party from within.

Junet has alleged that ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and National Assembly Minority Whip John Osotsi were plotting to “sell” the party to Uhuru for Sh1 billion.

He further claimed that the Luo community would stand firmly behind President William Ruto regardless of shifting political alliances.

Uhuru rejected the accusations, insisting that he had no interest in interfering with ODM affairs or undermining its leadership.

He urged party leaders to focus on unity and mutual respect, warning that reckless statements could inflame unnecessary tensions.

The former president’s comments came amid growing divisions within ODM over its working relationship with President Ruto’s administration under the broad-based government arrangement.

The disagreement has exposed sharp fault lines between leaders advocating cooperation with the government and those pushing for a more independent opposition stance.

The late Cyrus Jirongo’s burial, which brought together top political figures across the divide, ultimately turned into a stage for open political confrontation, underscoring the deepening rifts within Kenya’s opposition politics.
