Armed gang stormed a Boksburg trucking depot late at night, targeting resting truck drivers.
A calm night turned into terror at a Boksburg trucking depot when a group of armed criminals stormed in just before midnight on Thursday. The attack happened along Old Main Road, where drivers were asleep in their trucks after long hauls.
The gang first subdued the security guards stationed at the gate before making their way through the depot. With their guns drawn, they began waking up truck drivers, one by one.
Drivers Tied Up as Attack Unfolded
Once inside the compound, the robbers moved quickly, forcing drivers out of their trucks and tying them with cable ties inside the toilet area. It was a well-planned move aimed at preventing any resistance.
They went from truck to truck, targeting drivers’ belongings such as phones, wallets, and cash. Everything seemed to be going according to their plan — until they reached a truck that turned their night upside down.
One Driver Fights Back
To their surprise, one of the truck drivers was armed and ready. When the criminals tried to get into his truck, he opened fire. The depot instantly turned into a battle zone, with gunfire exchanged between the driver and the attackers.
Caught off guard, the gang panicked and took off, running into the darkness and leaving behind the other drivers — and one of their own.
Suspect Killed, Others Flee With Loot
Though the robbers escaped with some valuables, they left behind something much more serious — the dead body of one of their fellow gang members, who had been shot during the exchange.
No truck drivers were injured, but the fear and shock remain. The scene was later secured, and police confirmed that the suspect died on the spot. His identity has not yet been made public.
Police Investigations Ongoing
Authorities have confirmed that no arrests have been made, and the matter is under investigation. The bravery of the truck driver who resisted the criminals has been praised, as his actions might have saved many lives that night.
