A family dispute involving popular religious figure Kanyari and his children has drawn widespread attention on social media, raising questions about parental responsibility, financial expectations, and co-parenting arrangements following loss.

The matter came into public focus this week during a conference call hosted on TikTok, where Kanyari addressed concerns raised by online users regarding his relationship with his children, particularly his daughter Sky.

During the discussion, he explained that Sky had requested money to travel abroad for a school-related trip.

According to Kanyari, he asked her to wait, citing ongoing financial commitments, a response that reportedly left her upset.

The situation is complicated by the children’s current living arrangements.

While requesting financial support, the children continue to reside with Tash in a house with a reported monthly rent of KSh150,000.

Kanyari stated that he had previously secured an alternative, more affordable home for them but could no longer sustain rent payments for the current residence.

He said he advised them to relocate, an option Sky reportedly rejected.

Tensions escalated further when Sky contacted Kanyari claiming they had spent an entire day without food.

In response, he arranged for food to be delivered to their gate through a relative, explaining that he had been informed that family members were not permitted inside the compound.

Education has also become a point of contention.

Sky reportedly told Kanyari that she did not wish to continue attending the school where he is currently paying fees, citing a promise that she would eventually be relocated to the United States.

A recent video circulating online showing Kanyari visiting the school was clarified during the call as having been recorded when he went to pay school fees using funds contributed by well-wishers following the death of the children’s mother, Betty.

According to Kanyari, Sky later questioned why some of the contributions meant for her mother’s send-off were used to clear school fees instead of funding international travel.

He maintained that education remained a priority and that the funds were used responsibly.

As the discussion unfolded, TikTok users weighed in, with many urging Kanyari to reconsider the extent of his financial support under the current circumstances.

The situation highlights the complex challenges families face when grief, expectations, and financial responsibility intersect in the public eye.
