Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety revealed that DJ Warras had a total of five protection orders before his brutal murder in the Jhb CBD.

Dr Mgcini Tshwaku, Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety, revealed that TV host and DJ Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, had obtained a total of five protection orders before his brutal murder on Tuesday 16 December in the Johannesburg CBD.

DJ WARRAS HAD FIVE PROTECTION ORDERS BEFORE DEATH

Dr Mgcini Tshwaku, Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety, revealed that DJ Warras had obtained five protection orders before he was killed on Tuesday 16 December. The protection order was against individuals who had allegedly threatened him prior to his murder.

“We believe that this was a hit. Normally, in the modus operandi in these scenarios, Warrick was doing the normal thing of securing the building to ensure that people pay. But the building hijackers see that as stopping the income that was coming to them,” said Tshwaku, speaking to broadcaster Newsroom Afrika.

Tshwaku confirmed that DJ Warras had five protection orders against five individuals.

“He had protection orders against five people who are known to us. I have those protection orders, which I received from the lawyers. We believe that a price was put on his head because of the work that he was doing, trying to reclaim that building on behalf of the owner,” he continued.

This comes after ActionSA president Herman Mashaba reacted to the murder, linking it those standing up against crime in the inner city of Johannesburg.

WHAT HAPPENED TO DJ WARRAS?

DJ Warras was shot four times in the Johannesburg CBD on Tuesday 16 December. The fatal shooting took place in broad day light. CCTV footage reportedly showed a man with dreadlocks opening fire on DJ Warras, the suspect was seen approaching DJ Warras as he was leaving Zambesi House in Johannesburg’s CBD and opening fire before attempting to flee.

A manhunt is said to be underway as police probe the murder of the beloved DJ.
