Raila Odinga has revealed he declined a deal from unnamed opposition figures offering to support his 2027 bid.
While speaking in Rarieda, ODM leader Raila Odinga opened up about a political offer he says he couldn’t accept. According to him, some opposition figures offered to back him for president in 2027, on the condition that he supports them in 2032. Raila didn’t name names but said he turned it down because the camp felt divided and untrustworthy.
Raila hinted that some of those behind the offer had previously dismissed or even threatened him politically. “One said they’d kick us out of the queue at State House if they found us there,” he told the crowd. “How can we work with such people?”
Instead of jumping back into opposition politics, Raila said he’s sticking with President William Ruto for now. “I know where we’re going. I’m not turning back,” he said, promising to walk the journey with Ruto for the sake of unity and development.
2027 Politics? Not Yet, Says Raila
Raila also called out leaders who have already started campaigning for the next general election. “It’s not yet time,” he said. “My supporters should not be misled by early noise. When the time is right, I’ll speak.”
Raila explained that his decision to work with the Kenya Kwanza government is about making sure his supporters are included. “We can’t stay in opposition forever,” he said. “If there’s a chance to help our people, we must take it.”
