Mike Sonko was awarded the Leadership Excellence Award by UNIPGC and the Jewel Howard Taylor Program.
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has received international recognition after being honoured at the House of Lords in London.
The award was presented by the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC) together with the Jewel Howard Taylor Leadership Program, a platform led by Liberia’s former Vice President.
In addition, Sonko was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Leadership and Governance by the American University of Peace and Governance in the USA.
Sonko expressed gratitude after receiving the honour and described it as divine favour.
“See how God is placing me on podiums that elevate me and favour me despite being out of the office,” he said.
He also served as a keynote speaker at the summit and pledged to use his influence to promote sustainable peace and humanitarian work.
The event was the 3rd Global Leadership Investment Summit and Peace Award (GLISPA 2025), organised by UNIPGC UK Chapter in partnership with the Foreign Investment Network (FIN), Euroknowledge, and Trailblazer Queen USA.
This year’s theme was “Peaceful Coexistence and Synergy for Global Development.”
UNIPGC Global President, Amb. Dr Jonathan Ojadah encouraged all honourees to serve as peace ambassadors and examples of true leadership.
The summit brought together leaders, philanthropists, and peace advocates from across the world.
Other honourees included Livinis Tsar Adzer, Victor Alonge, Chief Mrs Bolaji Juliet Akinmulero, Dr Carlos Sousa, Zelig Ifeanyi Okonmah, Jaruwan Vantana, Morenike Oluwaseun, Dr Bastin Titus Anthony Raj, and Dr Michael Kanthakaran.
The ceremony was led by Dr Graziella Thake, UNIPGC Australia Secretary General, while the investiture was officiated by Barr. Williams Chima of the UNIPGC Advisory Council.
According to Kevin Uguru, a German MP and UNIPGC Europe Secretary General, the next summit will take place in Germany in mid-2026.
With each edition, UNIPGC has grown into a respected international body championing peace, leadership, and global cooperation.
