Kidnapping surge in Gqeberha: OOver the past three weeks, at least five documented kidnappings have engulfed Gqeberha, South Africa, in a tragic sequence.

At least five kidnappings are known to have occurred, sparking a horrific three-week series in Gqeberha.

These incidents have shaken Gqeberha’s people and raised serious concerns about city’s public safety.

ABDUCTED: School Teacher

At least three male suspects reportedly abducted a 45-year-old teacher outside her Algoa Park school shortly after she arrived in her grey Toyota Fortuner on March 24, 2025, just following 08:00.

Upon leaving the area, the suspects violently pulled her into their white Toyota Corolla.

Chinese national disappears

Two weeks later, on April 8, a 38-year-old Chinese man disappeared.

According to SAPS, the businessman was traveling on the M19 towards his business in Kariega after departing from the fresh produce market at approximately 5:39.

Parking across the road, a white Toyota Quantum minibus fired rounds across the other side. Stop driving a white Toyota Fortuner.

Three unknown suspects approached the car, removed the victim, pushed him into the minibus, and drove off.

A young man gets home bloody after kidnapping

On the same day, April 8, SAPS Mount Road responded to a kidnapping in Sydenham at about 12:45. The kidnapping involved a twenty-one-year-old male victim. The victim arrived home later, looking injured in the face.

PASTOR Taken Middle Sermon in Motherwell Church

On April 10, four armed and masked men broke into a Motherwell church, held members, and kidnapped the 45-year-old pastor.

The suspects left the scene running in the pastor’s car. Shortly later, in Motherwell, cops discovered the silver Toyota Fortuner.

Later, authorities found the American citizen pastor in KwaMagxaki at a safe location.

Three unidentified suspects were dead after responding police initiated high-intensity gunfire.

Abduction from Darling Street

Five suspects kidnapped a 44-year-old businessman today, May 9, snatching him from his BMW outside his North End firm on Darling Street.

Behind the victim, a blue VW Polo stopped. The suspects dragged the victim from his car and shoved him into the VW Polo. Then both cars vanished from the scene.

Meanwhile, SAPS has mounted roadblocks and opened a kidnapping case and is actively investigating the incident.
