Kenyan Police Officer Fatally Shoots Colleague Before Being Killed by Fellow Officers

This morning, a shooting incident at the Ng’iya Police Post in Siaya County resulted in the deaths of two police officers.

The incident occurred around 6:00 a.m., when Constable Martin Mwendwa allegedly shot and mortally wounded his superior, Corporal Chesise, who was overseeing the station.

Reports indicate that Mwendwa utilised a G3 rifle during the attack at the corporal’s residence before fleeing the scene.

He was later tracked down and shot dead by fellow officers near Ng’iya Girls’ High School.

Investigators are currently looking into whether this shooting stemmed from personal conflict or if it may be linked to mental health issues.

Charles Wafula, the Police Commander for Gem Yala Sub-County, confirmed the events to newsaih.com and stated that all possible factors, including psychological distress, are under scrutiny.

The bodies of both officers have been sent to Siaya County Referral Hospital for autopsy examinations.

The ongoing investigation seeks to establish a clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding this tragic confrontation.
