Kaluma’s story of caring for his sick father touched Kenyans.
Kaluma Boy, who has openly shared how he has been nursing his bedridden father, received overwhelming support from Kenyans touched by his story. On Sunday, September 28, well-wishers gathered at his home with donations in cash and kind, showing solidarity with his struggles.
During a church service at JCM Church in Ruiru, Bishop Muthee Kiengei revealed that the East African University (TEAU) had stepped in to sponsor Kaluma’s education.
“Dr Christopher Mutembei, the Vice Chancellor, has confirmed that Kaluma will get a full scholarship to study Sales and Marketing at TEAU. This will help him grow his digital marketing talent. Soon, we will all celebrate his graduation,” Kiengei announced.
Apart from the scholarship, Kaluma has received offers to become a brand ambassador as well as numerous donations. Previously, he worked on local farms, plucking tea leaves to raise money for his father’s treatment.
Speaking after the fundraiser, Kaluma could not hide his joy.
“I thank Kenyans for standing with me. You have changed our lives, and may God bless you all,” he said.
His father has been bedridden since suffering a stroke in August 2024, leaving Kaluma as the main caregiver. His mother, Beatrice Wangechi, also expressed her gratitude.
“I saw wonders I have never seen before. This has shown me the power of talent and mobile phones. God bless everyone who helped us,” she said.
