Jeremie Frimpong signed for Liverpool shortly after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid

With Trent Alexander-Arnold now wearing white at Real Madrid, Liverpool’s right-back spot is up for grabs. But Jeremie Frimpong, the club’s latest signing, isn’t nervous—he’s confident.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Frimpong said that any position at Liverpool carries weight. “It’s Liverpool,” he said. “Whether or not Trent was here, it’s always big shoes.”

The 23-year-old was unveiled just hours after Trent’s departure and becomes Arne Slot’s first addition since Liverpool’s title-winning season.

Frimpong made it clear: he’s not here to sit on the bench or just blend in.

“I believe in myself. I’m a winner. And that’s exactly what I’m bringing to the team.”

He acknowledged that Conor Bradley will also be eyeing the position, but said competition only sharpens focus. The former Bayer Leverkusen star emphasised that joining Liverpool means one thing: delivering results.

Though born in Amsterdam, Frimpong was raised in Manchester and spent nine years in Manchester City’s academy. His senior career kicked off at Celtic, where he tasted silverware early with a Scottish title in his debut season.

He moved to Leverkusen in 2021 and last season played a major role as the German side lifted the 2023/24 Bundesliga trophy, ending Bayern’s long reign.

Now back in England, Frimpong says this move feels right.

“I always planned to come back to the Premier League. It’s the best league in the world,” he said. “And now I’m at a champion club. That’s special.”

Frimpong revealed that manager Arne Slot has already expressed confidence in him, explaining how he fits into the squad and where he can make a difference.

“He believes in me. That gives me more drive and confidence,” Frimpong added.

As Liverpool begins life without Trent, eyes will be on Frimpong. With pace, energy, and a winning pedigree, he steps in with the right mindset. And for the young Dutchman, it’s more than just a transfer—it’s the start of something big.
