The widow of the late Mayienga FM presenter Festus Amimo has shared a heartfelt reflection on the small, ordinary moments she now cherishes, including the light disagreements they often had over his constant phone use.
Rozy spoke from their matrimonial home, remembering how Amimo was always glued to his phone, even in the early hours of the morning. At the time, she would get frustrated, urging him to rest after long days at work.
“There were days we’d argue because he never put his phone down. Even if he walked in at 3 am, the first thing he reached for was the phone.
I’d tell him, ‘Please relax, even you need to rest.’ But he’d insist that the phone was his office, that one day I would understand why he couldn’t switch off,” she recalled.
Now, after his sudden passing, Rozy says those words make painful sense.
She spoke about how hardworking her husband was, how committed he remained to his duties, and how he was always coordinating something, even late in the night.
She also remembered the many plans Amimo had lined up for December and the coming year, dreams he never got to fulfill.
“He had big plans for December… even for 2026. But God had different plans. Out of his death, I’ve learned that we truly must take life one day at a time,” she said.
The grieving widow warmly described some of the intimate moments they shared, including the special nickname she had for him.
“I used to call him ‘Dad,’ and he loved it. He’d tell me the name sounded sweet coming from me. He loved good things, he loved meat… I’d ask what to cook, and he’d always say, ‘Make me some nyama, ’” she said.
Amimo’s unexpected passing has left a deep void in his family, listeners, and the larger community who admired him for his hard work and dedication.
