A South African groom divorced his bride days after their wedding.
What was meant to be a romantic honeymoon quickly turned into tragedy for a newlywed couple in South Africa. Just days after the wedding, the groom decided to end the marriage after seeing his wife without makeup for the first time.
According to Dr Molapo, a psychologist who later counselled the woman, the 40-year-old man said he could not recognise his 35-year-old bride once her makeup was gone. He accused her of hiding her real looks with heavy makeup, false lashes, and even cosmetic procedures before the wedding.
The shocking moment happened during a swim at Richards Bay, a popular coastal spot. As the bride entered the water, her makeup washed away, exposing her natural face. The groom’s attitude changed immediately, and he soon told her the marriage was over.
The couple’s relationship had started on Facebook. Within three months, they had grown close, gotten engaged, and walked down the aisle. But what should have been the beginning of a shared journey ended almost as soon as it began.
The bride, left heartbroken by the sudden divorce, is now receiving psychological help to deal with the emotional pain.
“This was supposed to be the happiest time of her life, but it turned into deep heartbreak,” said Dr. Molapo.
